The last two weeks of Community of Hope sent people hiding under the limited shade of a few trees as temperatures soared into the 80s.

This weekend, temperatures sank and the wind blew. A few weeks ago this would have meant a small crowd at Community of Hope. Instead, we ran out of food as a large crowd huddled together.

The Band

The Band

The gatherng was entertained by “The Band”. In between songs, Pastor Scott exclaimed “Only one practice folks, all of this from only one rehearsal. Can you believe it?”

During the time of prayer, people shared their needs.

In the scripture, we heard Jesus invitation to peace.

A homeless woman and I walked between tables offering Holy Communion.

People hugged each other as they passed the peace.

The service came to an end with the band singing, “Don’t you forget about me”.Regardless of wind and cold, warmed by the joy of “The Band”, and filled with the grace of Jesus Christ, community happened.
